Authenticity Transcends Love

People truly admire authenticity, for it endears others toward you. These individuals have the unique ability to show up in the world just as they are.

Today it is rare and beautiful to observe a fully transparent person. Yet, why are so many afraid to shine their inner light to allow others to see inside them? It boils down to fear.

We all have a shadow side to our hearts, harboring ill thoughts, even intentions if left unchecked. But, when we take full responsibility for our shadow and learn to tame the darker aspects of ourselves, we are on the road to authenticity.

A transparent person is happy to show the world within their heart because it is full of pure intentions; they have nothing to hide. Even by owning up to their weaknesses, endear people with good intentions towards them.

Revealing Who you Are

It is only an impure heart that cannot reveal who they are to others or what it holds within. These characters work hard to create a glossy, false external image, concealing their weakness of character and insecurities. Sooner or later, life catches up, and the mask slips, revealing their true essence.

When we are growing up, we desperately want to fit in with our peers, yet, with maturity, we tend to develop our unique characters, not caring so much about what others think of us. The external image becomes less important, and developing ourselves within takes precedence.

Sadly, some continue through life worried about the opinions of others and upholding a false image. Truth be known, “nobody cares

As our exterior begins to wither, by contrast, our inner treasures shine through. A pattern and intricacy reveals itself, and we receive insight into how that individual navigates their life. Wisdom courses through the life force of their veins, revealing a soft yet delicate form and strength.

At our local church gathering, we have one individual who very innocently can make everyone laugh. His transparency is natural, and the congregation can not help but laugh and endear themselves to him.

He usually says something hilariously funny without realizing what he said. Getting it wrong makes it all the more endearing and funny. He told me once, “God is a happy God”. Having the ability to make people laugh without trying is naturally endearing. The simple act of making people smile lights up the room.

Imperfection

In a world that is easy to offend, maybe we have lost our ability to be authentic. Part of being imperfect humans is to mess up occasionally. We still need reasons to repent and pray for forgiveness.

Human perfection would mean elevation to “Jesus” status, and I doubt one human walks the earth today with all those qualities.

It is a unique gift to be transparent and quit pretending to be the things we are not. It takes courage to walk your walk.

I learned that the people who have acquired the skills of greater wisdom and knowledge through their life experiences see through false exteriors very quickly. They detect it in the words, the body language, and actions.

A lesson that has come many times to me is that deception always comes wrapped up as a gift of smiles or feel sorry for me tears.  Giving people the gift of chances over and over again only drains us of our own resources. There comes a point we need to forgive and release.

Ephesians 4:25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.

Anyone can pretend to be whatever they want, but pretense is all it will ever be. Authenticity is God's seal of approval. Search your heart for your authentic self, and you'll be the brightest star in the sky.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, shame on both of us.” Stephen King

Authenticity, whether we are right or wrong, is I believe what God asks of us. He already knows we are imperfect, but to own our imperfections, and take responsibility for them is what it is to be fully authentic.

Authenticity means erasing the gap between what you firmly believe inside and what you reveal to the outside world - Adam Grant
