You are more capable and powerful than you know.

Written by Leah Lynch

There is only one thing holding you back from doing what you love, and that is fear. It’s natural to come up with excuses about why you can’t do something. Consider what would happen if you did not listen to the doubts in your head and started following your heart.

The person that holds you back the most is yourself. When you start believing in your abilities you are more motivated, productive, and successful. You are capable of great things, but they will never happen if you aren’t willing to take the first step.

I Am Not Skilled Enough

“I think perfectionism is just fear in fancy shoes and a mink coat, pretending to be elegant when actually it’s just terrified.” - Elizabeth Gilbert

If you wait until you feel you are ready, you will never begin. As long as you are alive you have the power to gain more knowledge and grow. Whenever you start something new there is a learning curve. You will never be perfect, so start before you feel ready and learn as you go.

I Haven’t Accomplished Enough

“Our successes and failures come and go — they neither define us nor do they determine our worthiness.” - Kristin Neff

Never judge yourself by your accomplishments. You should love yourself no matter what. You are worthy of happiness and feeling good simply because you are alive. Stop beating yourself up for what you haven’t done, and find ways to discover new goals and dreams.

Some People Will Not Like Me

“Accept that not everyone will understand you. Live authentically, don’t dumb down or dull your shine just to “fit in” or “get along” with anyone.” — Kianu Starr

Get comfortable with the fact that not everyone is going to like you. The brighter you shine, the more people will judge you. The important thing is that you find those that resonate with your work and love what you do. Be yourself and the right audience will find you.

It’s Too Late To Start Now

“It’s never too late — never too late to start over, never too late to be happy.” — Jane Fonda

If you are hesitant to start over, know it is never too late to start something new. As long as you are alive you have the ability to redirect, rebuild, and transform your life. In fact, it might be just what you need to reignite your passion and discover new things about yourself.

I’m Not Worthy of Success

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” — Marianne Williamson

Fear of success holds you back from living out your dreams even more than the fear of failure. You must believe you are worthy of achieving great things. If you find yourself coming up with excuses about why you can’t finish a project, look deeper. You might just be afraid of success.

When you work through your doubts and fears you become unstoppable! Be kind to yourself and remember that everyone experiences negative thoughts about themselves. You are more capable and powerful than you know. Give yourself permission to thrive.

Change your inner world and your life will transform. When you understand what is holding you back you can learn how to work past it. The beliefs you hold about yourself can either keep you stagnant or allow you to discover your dreams.
